SURFACE LAUNCH CAMPAIGN
VIDEO WALL THEME

ROLES: CREATIVE LEAD - CONCEPT - ANIMATION - PRODUCTION
STUDIO: AQUENT MICROSOFT UXCS - 2011

I animated and led the entire creative execution on the vendor side for this theme which launched Surface on the Microsoft Retail Store video wall. This was an entire group effort from Florin Gale’s internal support. I flew to LA to pitch concepts and work with the producers of the Video and Owner of Surface. All comps were created in Photoshop as a 28,800 x 1080 resolution composition; and then created as video in After Effects exporting it and chopping it into 30 HD pieces ( 15 videos for each side ). Most of what you see was custom made due to the size. Chaz Laughlin created the 3D renders in Maya for us. Brad Sherman, Ryan Griffin and myself were responsible for all art direction, video shoots with a production company, and final concepts.

I animated this for the Microsoft Retail Store. Antoine Do helped with typography. I created all of the concepts and layouts and presented this as an idea we could do. We had zero budget to shoot live actors, but that was the idea. I comped each side in Photoshop as a 28,800 x 1080 resolution composition; then created the final layout and video in After Effects exporting it and chopping it into 30 HD pieces ( 15 videos for each side ).

I animated this for the Microsoft Retail Store and it ran for 3 years! Chaz Laughlin joined our team as a 3D specialist and together we designed insects and nice typography into this theme and I gave him motion direction paths This was another project I pitched as something we could do than marketing for the holidays. I created the entire landscape from photography and sourced material. Seeing this at this resolution doesn't do it justice.  I comped each side in Photoshop as a 28,800 x 1080 resolution composition; then created the final layout and video in After Effects exporting it and chopping it into 30 HD pieces ( 15 videos for each side ).

I animated this for Stepframe's client Suntrust while working with Vitamin T as a contract animator. Stepframe supplied the art and I animated them to a storyboard and voice over. I did the final sound edit.

I was asked to lead the motion design and layouts from John Demartile's initial print concept. Casey Brewer was the writer and I was brought on to extend this. It got me my full time job at Publicis and turned out as a great piece. Audio was done at Clatter and Din for award show submissions. I composited the final piece in After Effects with 3D renders Straightface created for us. I art directed this piece with Dan Weeks on site at Straightface for weeks.

I animated this for Stepframe for their client LyondellBasell while working with Vitamin T as a contract animator. Stepframe supplied the art and I animated them to a storyboard and voice over. I did the final sound edit.

This was the first piece for the flagship T-Mobile store. It was a 9 panel video wall that went 720 per screen. I came up with this concept and design. "Bring apps on the phone to life to demonstrate vibrance throughout." 3D was finalized with Straightface and I art directed the pieces I needed to make the final video in After Effects.

Up like Donald Trump! I decided for whatever reason in 2007 when The Apprentice was hot to make fun of Trump. Well, I actually pulled out some Monty Python language and humor to present my work. I landed a lot of great jobs with this.

STUDIO: AQUENT AT MICROSOFT UXCS -2012

I returned from a long forced break from my contract with Microsoft to lead a project with new addition to the team, motion designer Ryan Griffin. We animated this for the Microsoft Retail Store and had a "blast!" I animated and comped what you see. Ryan worked on the way point items except for the actual assets and title given by the agency or what we could scrub from their files. I comped each side in Photoshop as a 28,800 x 1080 master resolution composition; then created the final layout and video and FX in After Effects exporting it and chopping it into 30 HD pieces ( 15 videos for each side ).
